TA THAM Musical Instruments was founded in 1957 by Mr. Ta Tham (1929-1997), a musical instrument researcher and innovator. With his talent for making musical instruments, Mr. Ta Thamhas been recognized by traditional musical instrument artists as the “King of musical instruments” or the “King of musical instrument innovation”.
In 1987, in the contest "Innovation works of Traditional Musical Instruments" held by the Institute of Music Research, Ministry of Culture, he participated in 5 works. All his 5 works won high prizes with 3 A Prizes and 2 B Prizes in the total of 10 prizes awarded by the Ministry of Culture.
With the endless efforts of successive generations in studying the method of making professional musical instruments, TA THAM Musical Instruments is known as the best professional and creative Producer of Traditional musical instrumentsin Vietnam for last 60 years. Musical instruments of TA THAM are interested by many Vietnamese and foreign artists and considered as the standard model for the sound quality and aesthetics of traditional instruments. TA THAM Musical Instruments is honored and proud to be considered as the musical instrument producer with the greatest contribution to and influence on preservation and development of Vietnam’s traditional music.
